Continuing Professional Development Requirements

Occupational therapy practitioners are lifelong learners who continuously pursue activities that contribute to their professional development. Following initial certification, one way to demonstrate continued competence is through use of the credential "OTR" by occupational therapists or "COTA" by occupational therapy assistants. Learn about how you can satisfy requirements for continued use of the OTR or COTA credential from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Beginning in 2013, the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy and Education Licensure Board implemented Continuing Competence requirements. Please see the Licensure Board webpage for more information about these requirements.
