Educational Programs

District Activities

Local districts offer a variety of programs throughout the year, with presenters from within and beyond the occupational therapy profession. Student members are encouraged to attend local district events. Check your district's page or the Calendar of Events to see what's planned.


Annual Conference

Our premier educational program, the Annual Conference, is held in the fall each year. Consider how you can be a part of this event. Perhaps you and other students collaborate with a faculty member in your program to present a poster or workshop at the conference.CLICK HERE for Conference information and be sure to submit your proposal for consideration in the fall conference program.

Leadership Development

Student Member Position on POTA Board of Directors

Here is an excellent leadership and service opportunity for a student in POTA to represent student issues, participate in meetings and assist through an advisory role to the Board. Contact the POTA President for more information.

A new term begins every other fall in odd years on the calendar. Information is posted on the discussion Forum in the POTA members-only students section. Review the Position Description. The nomination packet includes a:

1. statement from the POTA student member, indicating:

  • his/her interest in the position and willingness to serve (including whether for 1 or 2 year term);
  • what he/she can bring to the position;
  • what he/she hopes to gain from the experience.

2. letter of support from the Program Director or another faculty member.


Annual Leadership Workshop - Save the date!

This is a unique opportunity for recent graduates and soon-to-be graduates to develop their leadership skills. Plan to attend this interactive, provocative and fun program on Thursday afternoon before our Annual Conference. Be sure to register as space is limited! BrOT is a student-formed organization whose mission is to promote gender and cultural diversity within occupational therapy, while ensuring the creation of a widely recognized and powerful profession. This group plans to achieve their goal by utilizing a bold image to aggressively market OT to undergraduate and high school students.
