Dr. Todd Lewis, PhD has been the neuropsychologist and brain injury clinical specialist on the neurorehabilitation unit at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital for the past 25 years. He will present on Concussion and Post-Concussive Syndrome assessment and treatment with an emphasis on common visual impairments, emotional sequel, neurocognitive impairments, and resources to aide with treatment areas as they pertain to OT.

We are excited about our upcoming banquet on June 12tand looking forward to celebrating our successful year with all of you. Come join us at the at the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel in the Grand  Ballroom for an evening filled with networking, making new friends, catching up with old friends, and great fun.

Our speaker, Dr. Todd Lewis, PhD will be presenting "Concussion and Post-Concussive Syndrome Assessment and Treatment Intervention."

The presentation will initially address basic definitions and symptoms associated with Concussion and Post-Concussion Syndrome.  The incidence of concussion will be discussed as well as common causes.  Assessment and treatment options will be evaluated including specific areas of OT intervention.  An emphasis will be placed on common visual impairments, emotional sequelea, neurocognitive impairments, and addressing resources to aide with treatment areas as they pertain to OT.   

Objectives:

 1)    Participants will be able to define Concussion vs Post-Concussion Syndrome.

 2)    Participants will be able to identify at least 3 areas that OT’s provide intervention related to Concussion/Post-concussion syndrome.

 3)    OT’s will be able to identify 2 resources to assist with treatment. 

 4)    Participants will be able to identify the most common visual impairments resulting from Concussion.
