Occupational therapists strive to provide services to children and youth that promote a healthy childhood. Increasingly, the pediatric clients that are referred to occupational therapy services are dealing with mental health issues including childhood trauma, mental illness, and chronic stress. This course will present the latest evidence and practical strategies on the assessment and treatment of children with mental health issues.

Dr. Briana Jurcevich is an assistant professor in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program at Slippery Rock University. Dr. Jurcevich is the psychosocial coordinator for the OTD program. She completed her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at Chatham University in 2017. She has been a registered and licensed occupational therapist for 7 years, primarily practicing in the outpatient pediatric setting.
Dr. Ken Reichl is an assistant professor in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program at Slippery Rock University (SRU). He completed his Master of Occupational Therapy degree at Chatham University in 2001 and his Doctor of Clinical Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. He is the Pediatric Coordinator in the OTD program at SRU. Dr. Reichl has been practicing in pediatric occupational therapy for nearly 18 years and has worked in acute care, outpatient, inpatient rehab, schools, home health, and early intervention settings.
