This course is open to all occupational therapy practitioners and students desiring to improve their ability to interact with individuals across the lifespan. This course will review behaviors including the function of a behavior and strategies to change a behavior. Course will also review reinforcement versus punishment. Instruction will include video and written examples. The goal of the course is provide therapists and students with a toolbox of functional strategies to manage maladaptive behaviors across all environments.


1. Utilize strategies based on positive reinforcement to elicit desired behaviors when engaging with their clients.  
2. Summarize successful behavior management strategies to family members so that they may employ these strategies with their child during the course of a typical day.
3. Make appropriate referrals to other professionals as needed
4. Enumerate resources available for families that are having difficulty managing their child’s behaviors


Registration and Continental Breakfast will begin at 8:30am

The event will begin at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm


Attendees will earn 3 contact hours at this event.
